MERKER - Die Internationale Kulturplattform (The international culture platform)

Opening of the exhibition „Eine Märchenwelt“ with paintings byRaffaele de Rosa followed by an Orchestra Concert at Zwettl Monastery (15 June 2019)

The series „Kerzenlicht-Konzerte“ for the first time included a concert with orchestra in its program: 15 June 2019 the prestigious Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg under the lead of Markus Tomasi gave a concert at Zwettl Monastery. The event took place in the Main Hall of the Monastery, 15 June 2019. It was under the patronage of the Italian Culture Institute (Italian Embassy), Vienna.

The concert began with Ignaz Biber's "Battalia". It is music that illustrates war and battles and lamentos with sounds and melodies. The orchestra gave a brilliant and lively impression about old knights and their fights. Biber shows certain parallels with De Rosa's paintings of medieval knights and phantasy castles.

After the opening Robert Pobitschkas 2nd piano concerto, composed 2017/2018, was on the program, the composer himself playing the solo part. The composition is written in a very personal style, but also shows up features of 20th Century music from Russia and reminds sometimes even of Jazz. The concerto consists of three movements and leads the audience through a wide range of emotions and marks a poetic development from melancholy to triumph. Being a brilliant pianist himself, Pobitschka in his composition took advantage of all the possibilities a piano can offer and also impressed the audience with his sensitive as well as virtuoso performance. The rhythmical difficulties were certainly a challenge for the interplay between soloist and orchestra but were mastered with a high degree of professionalism. The numerous audience reacted with stormy applaus....

BRILLANCE AND ESPRIT

Robert Pobitschka’s piano concerto „Deep blue“ gains a win for music festival „Carinthischer Sommer (Ossiach/Austria)

The motto for the serenade concert of the Wiener Concert-Verein, 10 August at the Monastery  of Ossiach was '1815 (Vienna Congress) - 1915 (World War I) - 2015 (crisis in Europe)'. Therefore under the outstanding lead of conductor Wolfgang Dörner, music was presented to the audience that has been composed during these periods of time. The range of music included Beethoven (2 movement from his 8 Symphony) Lanner (Hofballtänze) Johann Strauß, Ravel (Rigaudon from 'Le Tombeau de Couperin') as well as Prokofjew (3 movement from his  'Symphonie classique').

The main attraction on the program of the serenade concert was the premiere performance of Robert Pobitschka’s piano concerto 'Deep blue', the composer himself performing the solo part on the piano. Fran Eve Wright’s poem „Deep blue“ that one could read in the program, had inspired him for the composition. He transformed the poem’s atmosphere colourful into music. Panels of sounds were followed by repeating elements and an almost percussive rhythm in the last movement. The pianist’s play included power as well as poetical expression, specially in the second movement. His virtuosity never contradicted the subtleness of his tone. But also the mental flexibility of the musicians of the Wiener Concert-Verein must be seen as responsible for the premiere performance’s success. Under the lead of conductor Wolfgang Dörner they executed the composition’s complex dynamic contrasts in a natural as well as precise manner. They seemed to enjoy the pleasure of exploring new grounds and received friendly applaus from the audience that obviously seemed to be in good spirits.

CHOPIN BY CHANDEL LIGHT

Premiere | Gars Castle, Main Hall proves to be suitable for concerts

Robert Pobitschka performed with heart and technique brilliantly on the piano

GARS | As part of the series "Kerzenlicht-Konzerte" pianist Robert Pobitschka gave a solo recital with works by Chopin on April 13th. The program included a representative selection of works by the Polish composer.

"Today we have a premiere, the first concert in our series in the Main hall of Gras Castle", greeted the renowned pianist and composer his audience: "It is dedicated to the greatest composer of music for piano". He then spoke about Chopin's life and about the history of Poland, that had influence on Chopin's compositions. He spoke briefly about the works performed in the concert.

From Mazurka to the "Marche funèbre"

Pobitschka opened his recital with the Polonaise in c-minor. It was followed by the Sonata II in b-minor. It's third movement is known as the famous "Marche funèbre", that - said Pobitschka - has appeared millions of times at funerals all over the world. The fourth and last movement of the sonata contrasts sharply with its fast scales. After the intermission Pobitschka performed  Nocturne in c sharp minor, Fantaisie-Impromptu c sharp minor, Mazurka b minor and Ballade no. 4 in f minor, all typical and well known samples from Chopin's musical universe.

In all his interpretations Pobitschka impressed, not only through his technical perfection, but by the way he used his heart and his sensitivity in producing sounds and atmospheres on the Yahama concert grand.

The knowledgeable audience in the fully occupied hall applauded intensely and the artist thanked with an encore: the Waltz in a minor.

PREMIERE PERFORMANCE ON THE NOVALIS ORGAN ON KIRCHBERG IN SCHLÖBEN (Germany)

The finale of the International Novalis Art Project and the premiere performance of a composition to commemorate the poet Naovalis brought an artistic highlight to Schlöben and opened up perspectives for the future

Schlöben | "We must become more romantical", Mayor Hans-Peter Perschke quoted the poet Friedrich von Hardenberg who under the pseudonym Novalis became a symbol figure of mental development and breaking out of old patterns…

When the Mayor spoke to the audience at Schlöben Church and honoured the successful workshop of artists under the lead of Barbara Neuhäuser, artist from nearby Gröben, the sound of a musical premiere performance that had taken place right before seemed to be still in the room.

On the Novalis Organ Robert Pobitschka, international renowned pianist and composer had given his own composition, which had been inspired by Novalis’ “Hymns to the night”.

… like the Novalis’ work this composition was written in a cyclical order. After a bright and light entrée and passages that follow romantic intentions came long parts that seemed to be depressive and dark and did not lead into harmonious solution…

... followed the principle of complete dedication to the circumstances, the room and the instrument, which created bows of sound that ranged from harmonious to chaotically. Thus, part of the audience was enthusiastic, another part seemed confused…
